William Francis Brown

William Francis "Christy" Brown, of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, July 30, 2015.

He was born on October 26, 1920 to the late Charles W. and Margaret (Nowlin) Brown.

Mr. Brown attended the Washington public school system.

In 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1944. Upon his discharge, he moved to Philadelphia, where he remained for several years

Mr. brown was employed at the International Union of Operating Engineers for many years until his retirement.

He was a proud father of two sons, Donald and Ronald Griffith.

In 2007, he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he resided until his death.

Mr. Brown was a member of First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles, CA.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Ronald Griffith of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters, Georgia Lindsay of Carnegie, Ella Twitty of Flint, MI and Alberta Saulene Brown of Silver Springs, MD; a brother, Charles W. Brown of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Elaine Brown of McDonald; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are a son, Donald Brown; a sister, Ann Reeves; and a brother, Vincent Brown.

Friends will be received Monday, August 10, 2015 at Nazareth Baptist Church, 123 North Lincoln St., Washington, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., the time of services, with Rev. Eugene C. Beard, officiating and Rev. Dr. Carl Denson, First Baptist Church, St. Clairsville, OH, eulogist. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
