Willard J. Mansfield Jr.

Willard J. Mansfield Jr., 73, of McDonald, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Sewickley Valley Hospital.

He was born September 18, 1944 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Willard J. and Inga Alma (Young) Mansfield, Sr.

Mr. Mansfield attended Alderson-Broadus College in Phillipi, WV and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked for the Asbestos Workers Union Local #2 until his retirement in 1999.

Mr. Mansfield was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed walking his dog, watching TV and reading books. He was a former member of the Native American Indian Coalition of Pennsylvania.

On March 26, 1988 he married Nancy L. May, who died June 2, 2017.

Surviving are a daughter, Kellie Kathleen (Ryan) Dernoshek of Canonsburg; two sons, Patrick Sean Mansfield of Sturgeon and Richard Charles Mansfield of Washingon; two step-daughters, Dana (Dave Magdich) Bradwell of Cecil and Renee Blank of Oakdale; a step-son, Ron (Colette) Hertzler of Bridgeville; eight grandchildren, Hunter and Jared Dernoshek, Sean and Taylor Mansfield, Kaylee Akerley and Chelsea Mansfield; six step-grandchildren, David and Danny Bradwell, Zachary Blank, Michael Smith, Sarah, Matthew, Jacob and Anna Hertzler; and three great grandchildren, Mileena and Dax Bradwell and Kenzie Akerley.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 with Rev. Justin Amsler, pastor of McDonald Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Allgehenies, Bridgeville. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
