Sally Marlene VanGysel, born on April 16, 1938, in Albia, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at St. Clair Hospital.
Sally devoted a significant part of her professional life to serving others through her career as a retail manager with the Army Airforce Exchange Service in Oakdale and the 911th Airwing in Moon Township, where she worked for 28 years. Her commitment to her career was a testament to her strong work ethic and resilience.
A proud graduate of the Midway High School Class of 1957, she cherished the values instilled in her during her formative years. Those who knew Sally understood her passion for life. She found joy in gardening, reading, and the companionship of her beloved cat, Charlie.
Sally is survived by her two children, Michelle (James) Kaufman and Dale A. VanGysel. She also leaves behind a sister, Lucy Hawk; a brother, James Frazier; and five grandchildren, including Branden and Romy VanGysel, Matthew and Michael (Sarah) Kaufman, and Katie (Andrew) Swoager; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Ivy Kaufman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late William and Emily Schmek Frazier, and by five sisters: Jacqueline O'Rourke, Marjorie McKindley, Patsy McCaffrey, Betty Jean Reeder, and infant Sandra Lee Frazier; as well as a brother, William E. Frazier.
Sally's legacy will be celebrated with visitation services on April 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, held at Graff-Nation Funeral and Cremation Services located at 218-220 East Lincoln Ave, McDonald, PA. A Mass in her honor will be celebrated on April 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Alphonsus Church - St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, at 219 W Lincoln Ave, McDonald, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, 390 Old Hickory Ridge Rd. Meadowlands, PA. 15347
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
