Russell L. Brockmyer Jr.

March 15, 1943 — September 6, 2011

Russell L. Brockmyer, Jr., 68, of McDonald, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Center For Compassionate Care of Mt. Lebanon.

He was born March 15, 1943 in McDonald, the son of the late Russell Laeman and Yvonne (Brackman) Brockmyer, Sr.

Mr. Brockmyer was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a truck driver for Manfredi Trucking, Neville Island for 5 years before retiring in 2006.  Prior to that, he worked for 20 years as a driver for Weavertown.

Mr. Brockmyer was a member of the Teamsters Union.  He also was a volunteer for the Army Corps of Engineers at Shenango Reservoir.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating and he was an avid Steeler fan.  He loved spending time playing with his grandchildren.

On June 21, 1969, he married Janet Rose Handrahan, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Terrie Ann (Steve) Martin of McDonald, Pam Marie Brockmyer of Oakdale and Nicki Lynn (Matt) Woolensack of Bethel Park; a sister, Sally Herrle of Bridgeville; and seven grandchildren, Joshua, James, Joel and Jacob Kubacki, Andrew Martin, McKenna and Mason Woolensack.

Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald.  A memorial service will be announced at a future date.  Online condolences, photos and additional information are available at www.nationfuneralhome.com.
