Robert L. Jones

Robert L. Jones, 84, of Greentree, formerly of McDonald, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home.

He was born December 15, 1928 in Bessmer, Alabama, the son of the late Sylvester and Emma Lou (Lightfoot) Jones.

Mr. Jones was a 1946 graduate of Canon MacMillan High School.  He worked for U.S. Steel in Homestead for more than 30 years and was also a driver for Yellow Cab in East Liberty for 40 years.

He was a former member of Lincoln Lodge #90, McDonald, former Director of Public Relations, West Prince, a member of the Hall Grand Lodge of PA, and a current member of the Star of the West Lodge #143, 7 ^th Masonic District.

On June 4, 1949, he married Alice Mae Alexander, who survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Fairee Lucille Johnson, Sylvia Jones-Leenders and Gwendolyn Alexandre-Dickson, all of Pittsburgh, Mary K. Van Ness of Sommerset, NJ and Susan E. Jones of Florida; nine grandchildren, Emily Van Ness, Destiny Van Ness, Brandon Verse, Ryan Verse, Ayonna Verse, Lorraine and Lovell Robert Johnson, Allison Leender and  Alexandra Leenders; four great grandchildren, Daemon Palmer; Stephen Vandiver, Lovel Johnson and Brandon Alexander Jr..

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10 at First Baptist Church of McDonald with Rev. Melvin Braziel, officiating.  Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.  Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of the family to Nation Funeral Home, Inc.
