Richard J. “Dick” Finnell, 74, of McDonald, died Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.
He was born March 14, 1937 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Richard and Florence (Enright) Finnell.
Mr. Finnell was a graduate of Washington Vocational, Pittsburgh and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He retired from the Treasury of the Port Authority, where he began as a streetcar operator and worked for 30 years before retiring Jan. 1, 1996.
Mr. Finnell was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Division 85, of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 129 and of the S.N.P.J. Lodge #106, Imperial. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, whether it was trucks, Nationwide or Sprint and loved watching football, especially when the Steelers played.
Surviving is his beloved wife Shirley Fay Finnell and many good friends and neighbors.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 16 with Rev. Brian Kilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
