Rebecca Michalka, age 91, from Midway, passed on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

She was born November 4, 1930 in Midway; a daughter of Richard Sherman and Mary Kupstas Campbell.

On April 29, 1950 Becky married John Michalka, Jr; who passed on July 29, 1998.

Mrs. Michalka was an avid member of the Center United Presbyterian Church in Midway, where she was employed as an organist and choir director for more than 50 years. She also was a former Deacon and Elder.

Rebecca was a piano teacher, teaching many students out of her home.  She was a member of Bavington Grange, Pomona Grange of SW PA, an award-winning Grange Women’s Activity Director at the state level, and was active at the National level. She was also a member of Midway Senior Citizens, McDonald Area Garden Club, and the Fort Vance Historical Society.

Mrs. Michalka was an avid cook, crafter and quilter, seamstress, gardener, and reader. She also enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV when her husband (John) was living.

Surviving are four children: Marilyn (Bob) Egan of Cranberry Twp., Roberta (Bailey) Cadman of Jefferson, TX, Rodney (Kate) Michalka of Belton, MO, and John (Jamie) Michalka of Canonsburg, PA. Rebecca also has five grandchildren:  Rebekah (Stephen) Fisher, Matthew (Jerica) Cadman, Joseph (Karen) Michalka, Holly (Chris) Rice, and Jay (Jenny) Michalka, as well as 13 great-grandchildren:  Ligon Timothy, Sarah, and Peter Fisher, Shevi, Axl, Tevka, Matthew, and Daniel Cadman, Greyson and Beckett Rice, and Josephine, John Paul, and Jacob Michalka.

Deceased are a sister Evelyn Prebeg and a brother Richard Campbell.
