Michael W. Dugan, 59, of McDonald, died Sunday, December 4, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 30, 1952 in Pittsburgh, the son of William J. Dugan of Washington and the late Leonora E. (Matonak) Dugan.

Mr. Dugan was a graduate of Pineville High School, Pineville, WV and attended WVU. He went to work for Washington Steel following college and worked as a slitter until the mill closed in 2000.

He was active in his children’s lives. He volunteered as a coach for his daughter’s softball team in Mt. Pleasant Township and co-hosted the “Moon Show,” a local TV talk show on MCA-TV, with his son. His favorite place to vacation with family and friends was Deep Creek Lake, MD and he always had a positive outlook on life.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Burgettstown, a social member of the American Legion Post #902, Houston and a member and past vice president of the U.S.W.A. Local. He was also an avid astronomer and historian.

On December 1, 1979, he married Robin L. Simpson, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a daughter, Katie A. (Michael) Fehr of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a son, Matthew M. Dugan at home; four sisters, Kathy Dugan of Washington, Julie (Craig) Waters of Moon Twp., Francie (Chuck) O'Connor of Australia and Patty (Chuck) Wintermantle of Aliquippa; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Marilyn Hamlin.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 9 at St. Alphonsus R.C. Church, McDonald. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Odyssey Hospice, 190 Blimar Dr. Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or to Heritage Public Library, 54 4th St., McDonald, PA 15057.
