Marvin Roland Lewis Sr.

Marvin Roland Lewis, Sr., 79, of McDonald, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born January 19, 1935 in Idlewood, a son of Matthew and Alzenia (Heath) Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a 1952 graduate of McDonald High School and retired in 1986 as a Foreman for Shenango Steel where he worked for 30 years.

He enjoyed watching and going to High School Football games and loved watching his grandkids in any sport. He liked to work on cars and had a model car collection. He also was a member of the Silver Sneakers Group at the former Alexander’s Gym.

He was a member and Usher of First Baptist Church of McDonald and a member of the church’s Missionary Society and Project Church. He was a member of the U.S.W.A. and a member of the Shenango Retirees.

On June 8, 1957 he married C. Vanetta Bush, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Marvin R. (Peggy) Lewis, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Carol Joy (Damon) Powell of Copley, OH and Andrea J. (Max) Hamer of Moon Township; a brother, Matthew (Jeannine) Lewis of Thomasville, NC; two sisters, Barbara (Phillip) Johnson of Pittsburgh and Deborah Kemp of Lawrence; and eight grandchildren, Whitney Lewis Fancher, Marcus Lewis, Samantha, Brittany, Taylor and Reece Powell, Gabbi and Ajay Hamer.

Deceased is a sister, Doris Lewis Sargeant.

Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and from 6-9 p.m. at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m., the time of services at First Baptist Church of McDonald, 141 N. McDonald St., with Rev. Barry Givner, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Missionary Society or to FBC Scholarship Fund.
