Laverne (Chester) Darnley Fox

Laverne Darnley Fox, 85, of Bulger, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Ohio Valley Hospital , Kennedy Township.

She was born January 25, 1929 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James and Emma Lou (Douglas) Chester.

Mrs. Fox retired in 1989 as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Mayview State Hospital where she worked for 10 years. Prior to that, she worked for John J. Kane Hospital for 25 years.

She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and trips to the Meadows. She also square danced and played shuffle board, but her family was the most important thing in her life.

On June 17, 1946 she married Robert C. Darnley, who died September 26, 1995. On November 20, 1999, she married Donald J. Fox, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert E. “Bob” (wife Patricia) and Gary James (wife Karen) Darnley, both of Bulger, and Albert “Abby” (wife Cathy) Darnley of McDonald; three step-daughters, Pamela and Donna Fox, both of Connecticut and Helen Wagster of North Carolina; a step-son, Gerald Fox of Connecticut; nine grandchildren, Leann (Les) Darnley Stevenson, Robert E. (Stacy) Darnley, Lisa Marie (Kurt) Nice, Albert (Angela) Darnley Jr., Stacy (Ted) Ersek, David Darnley, Brenda (Dane) Culley, Tracy (Dave) Elliot and Tina (Jason McCoy) Darnley; and several dear friends and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Diana Lynn Darnley; and three sisters, Myrtle Underwood Pendexter, Annabelle Spotti and Esther Mae Freshwater.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 with Rev. Charles Puff, pastor of Iron’s Memorial Presbyterian Church officiating.
