Joseph "Joe" Gardiner Jr.

Joseph "Joe" Gardiner Jr., age 90, of McDonald, passed on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Coraopolis, PA.

He was born on July 8, 1933, in McDonald; a son of Joseph and Lydia Mae Nevergall Gardiner.

On October 22, 1955, he married Lois Marlene Donaldson, who passed, April 17, 2001.

Joe was drafted into the Army and served 2 years from 1953 to 1955 with the infantry at Camp Rucker, Alabama.  Joe worked 43 years as a printer with the McDonald Record Outlook, the Washington Observer, and the Pittsburgh Press.

Joe was president and coach of McDonald Little League Baseball for 15 years and coach of American Legion Baseball for12 years. He was a member and former secretary of the McDonald Lions Club for 34 years. He served as manager of the McDonald American Legion for 5 years and as Adjutant for 25 years. Joe also participated on the Honor Guard and Firing Squad for 20 years.  All told, he has 43 years active membership with the American Legion.

Surviving are three children, a daughter, Amy Jo Gardiner; two sons, Joseph Richard (Rick) Gardiner and his wife Mary Lee, and Timothy Alan Gardiner and his wife Sheila; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

We thank Joe Gardiner for his service to his Country and Community and say “Job Well Done”.  You will be forever missed and loved.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 6-8PM and Thursday from 11-1PM at Graff – Nation Funeral and Cremation Services LLC. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA. 15057. A Funeral Service will take place immediately following visitation on Thursday at 1PM.   Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
