Joseph A. "Jerry" Gilbert

August 31, 1935 — June 18, 2016

Joseph A. “Jerry” Gilbert, 80, of Bulger, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born August 31, 1935 in Primrose, a son of the late Nestor “Red” and Gertrude (Lindley) Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert was a 1953 graduate of McDonald High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was an assistant plant manager for the former Kopper’s Industry in Bridgeville, where he worked most of his life before retiring in 1993.

He was a member of Chartiers Lodge #297 F. & A.M. of Canonsburg. He enjoyed fishing and boating at Pymatuning Lake, gardening around his home and watching the Steelers. He was good at carpentry, refinished antiques and loved to build clocks.

In 1988, he married Patricia Stankowski Ramacker, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert C. Gilbert of McDonald; a daughter, Susan E. Gilbert of Kennedy Township; three step sons, John P. Ramacker of Slovan, Timothy (Dorothy) Ramacker and Robert (Diane) Ramacker, both of Burgettstown; a brother, Nestor (Mary) Gilbert of McDonald; two step grandchildren, Jackie (Tim) Feiock and Sydney Ramacker; and a step great grandson, Jake.

Deceased is a sister, Lt. Col. Shirley Gilbert.

Friends will be received from 1 – 3 and from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, with Rev. Brian Kilbert, pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, Midway, officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 3109 Forbes Ave # 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
