James H. “Sonny” Scott, 82, of McDonald died peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2011 at St. Clair Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 23, 1929 in Midway, a son of the late James A. and Lena B. (Coleman) Scott.

Mr. Scott attended Cecil High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked in the foundry at Shenango Incorporated, Neville Island for 36 years before retirement in 1991.  He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America.

Mr. Scott loved time spent with his grandson, sports and watching Steeler football.

On November 6, 1953, he married Frances L. Edmonds, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Leigh Donna Scott (Edward “Ed”) Moss of McDonald; a sister, Gaynell (John) Williamson of Washington; a grandson, Adam Scott Moss of Emsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, John R. Scott; and three sisters, Sarah G., Minnie E. and Lina Mae Scott.

Friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-8 pm Tuesday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, with Rev. Keith Clark, pastor of First Baptist Church, McDonald, officiating.  Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  The family suggests memorials be made to American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Ste. 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.  Online condolences, photos and additional information are available at www.nationfuneralhome.com.
