James Donald Hookey Sr.

March 30, 1931 — January 15, 2015

James Donald Hookey, Sr., 83, of Oakdale, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at his home.

He was born March 30, 1931 in McDonald, one of four sons of the late Charles Henry and Alma Marie (Moore) Hookey.

Mr. Hookey was a 1949 graduate of McDonald High School.

He was a weapon mechanic with the PA National Guard 112 th T.F.G.P. for 36 years before retiring in 1991.

Mr. Hookey was a member of Noblestown Methodist Church and the men’s Dart Ball team. He was a member of the former Odd Fellows and was a former scout master for the Oakdale Boy Scout Troop.

On June 2, 1950, he married Frances Jean Cook, who died Feb. 20, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (Ron) Dlugosz of Oakdale; two sons, James D. (Cynthia) Hookey, Jr. of Tallamadge, OH and David B. (Danette) Hookey of Murfreesboro, TN; eight grandchildren, Erin Wheat, Megan Hookey, James D. Hookey III, Jada McCay, Jennifer Hookey, Christopher Hookey, Sara Dlugosz and Matthew Dlugosz; and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Sunday, January 18 from 12 – 4 p.m., the time of services at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Officiating will be Rev. Libby, chaplain of Gateway Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans
