Jack "J.B." Bowland

October 23, 1944 — January 15, 2014

Jack L. “J.B.” Bowland, 69, of Hanover Twp. died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at his home.

He was born October 23, 1944 in McDonald, a son of the late John and Valera (Leary) Bowland.

Mr. Bowland served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #485 of McDonald.

He worked for 31 years for Local #66 as an Operating Engineer and retired in 2000.

Mr. Bowland enjoyed gardening and raised chickens for a hobby.

On October 16, 1987, he married Centa Mae Stephan, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Randell (Wilma) Bowland of Weirton, WV, Leslie Todd Bowland of Bristol, IN and Jeffrey (Brandi) Bowland of McDonald; a step son, Edward Semerod of McDonald; a step daughter, Rita (David) Eiler of McDonald; four sisters, Valera "Babe" (Bud) Menke of South View, Vivian "Bib" (Bill) Abbott and Pam Bowland, both of Bulger, and Brenda (Brad) Carter of Mt. Pleasant Twp.; two brothers, Richard Bowland of Langeloth and Johnny (Pam) Bowland of Burgettstown; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.

Deceased are a grandson, Joseph Bowland; a great grandchild, Skyler Ellenberger; a brother, Charles Bowland; and a sister, Betty Abbott.

Friends will be received from 1 – 8 p.m. Friday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18 with Rev. Dr. Tina Hosler, pastor of Paris Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620.
