Howard "Duke" Bellaire, a devoted family man and skilled electrician, left this world on March 3, 2025, just weeks shy of his 84th birthday. Born on March 29, 1940, Duke was a proud graduate of McDonald High School, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by hard work, dedication, and service to others.
Duke's career as an electrician spanned many years, during which he earned the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. His craftsmanship was reflective of his character—meticulous, reliable, and always delivered with a sense of pride. Beyond his professional life, Duke was a multifaceted individual with a passion for the outdoors. He found joy in hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature. A true enthusiast, he never missed a chance to watch Nascar, cheering for his favorite drivers with unwavering enthusiasm.
Duke's contributions to his community extended well beyond his profession. He was a Life Member of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, a testament to his commitment to serving others. Among his proudest accomplishments was his experience in training wild horses when he was younger, a feat that highlighted his gentle spirit and profound understanding of these magnificent animals.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Penberthy, who stood by his side through the years. Duke was a cherished father to his four children, Howard (Ruth Ann) Bellaire, Joseph Bellaire, Dana (Jerry) Myers, and Brenda (Ron) Schepis. He also embraced the roles of loving stepfather to four daughters: Barbara Przystup, Tricia (Dean) Backeris, Libby (John) Lauff, and Tina Hughes Sidebottom. His family continued to grow with the addition of 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored and cherished deeply.
Duke's legacy is shaped by his relationships with his surviving brother, Harry Bellaire, who will remember him as a source of strength and guidance. He now joins his late wife, Lavina Hunter, late son, Joseph Bellaire, and siblings Bob and Lyman Bellaire, Carla Henry, and Ruth Zilich and Diane Loyd in eternal rest.
