Herbert Russell Jamison

Herbert Russell Jamison, 92, of McDonald died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in his home.

He was born July 14, 1924 in McDonald, a son of the late Herbert R. and Margaret (Hadden) Jamison.

Mr. Jamison was a 1942 graduate of McDonald High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served as an aircraft artilleryman in the South Pacific Theater.

Mr. Jamison worked for West Penn Power for 40 years, beginning as a truck driver, then at the substation, and retiring as an outside inspector.

He was a member of Irons Memorial Presbyterian Church, McDonald, a life member of McDonald American Legion Post #485, a life member of McDonald V.F.W. Post #567, and a life member of McDonald Volunteer Fire Department.

On June 23, 1950, he married LaVerne Mary Ritchie, who survives.

Also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Frank W. and James H. Jamison; two sisters, Margaret Love and Mary Stewart; and a niece.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday and from 12 – 3 and from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 with Rev. Charles Puff, pastor of Iron’s Memorial Church, McDonald, officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Heritage Public Library, 52 4th St., McDonald, PA 15057.
