Helen J. Catrain

Helen J. Catrain age 94, of McDonald, passed Saturday, December 9, 2023.

She was born January 14, 1929; in Joffre, PA; a daughter of Joseph and Sophie Abood Mike.

Mrs. Catrain was a graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown, PA. She was a life-long member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, now known as McDonald Presbyterian Church. Helen loved to bake. She would bake the most beautiful wedding cakes and birthday cakes for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, family camping trips, bowling, and going to different dances with her husband Frank, before he passed. She was a member of two local senior centers where she enjoyed activities, traveling, and decorating for holiday events. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On September 30, 1950 she married Frank J. Catrain, who passed April 11, 1992.

Surviving are three children, Ronald (the late Marie) Catrain Sr. of McDonald, David (Sandy) Catrain of Pittsburgh, and Bonnie (Bob) Kriberney of Mars; two sisters, Dolores Amic of Tarpon Springs, FL and Donna Bish of Midway; eight grandchildren, Kristen Story, Heather Miller, Dennis Catrain Jr., Ronald Catrain Jr., Carleen Markivich, Chad Catrain, Cassandra and Kaitlyn Catrain; nine great grandchildren, Grayson and Harper Miller, Charles and Zachary Story, Madelynn and Gabriella Catrain, John, Kaelynn and Matthew Markivich.

Deceased is a son, Dennis (surviving Estella) Catrain Sr., five sisters, Sarah Hanna, Freda Koleno, Edna Mike, Anna Phillips, and Gloria Mike; one brother, Donald Mike.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 3–7 p.m. at Graff – Nation Funeral and Cremation Service LLC, 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald PA 15057; where services will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery McDonald PA. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
