Gerald D. "Jerry" Jeannette Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Jeannette age 82, of Weirton, formerly of McDonald, passed on Monday, August 14, 2023.

He was born April 24, 1941 in McDonald; a son of Henry S. and Goldie E. Hooker Jeannette.

Jerry was a graduate of Cecil High School class of 1959. He then enrolled in the United States Marines Corps, where he served from 1959 to 1965. He was also in the Marine Corps band. After his time in the Marines he worked for Local 2274, Heavy Carpenters Union, in Pittsburgh for over 28 years.

Jerry was a former Commander of the Midway, VFW Post 520, and also a member of the American Legion Post 485 in McDonald. He is also in the Cleveland Polka hall of fame. Gerald was an avid Musician. He played Tenor Saxophone and Clarinet for multiple Orchestras including Pavlovic & Repos, Cernik and Jeannette, Floyd Jeannette, Frank Palombi, Joe Grkman, Helen Matlack and Polka Quads.

Surviving are three children, Debra Lynn (Scott) Klein of Zelienople, Gerald D. (Kelly) Jeannette Jr. of Uniontown, and Brian D. (Dawn) Jeannette of McDonald; a sister, Nancy Jo Cousins of Bulger; a brother Rodney Wayne Jeannette of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Christopher Lugaila, Kaitlyn Lukes, Ian, Lillian, Taryn, Wyatt, and Kaleb Jeannette and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would also like to thank Jerry's companion and caregiver, Jane Oliver.

Deceased are a brother, Henry “Bud” Jeannette and a sister Joy Lynn Descutner.

Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Nation Funeral Home Inc. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA 15057; where a service will take place Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00AM. Inurnment will be announced at a later date and will take place at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
