Floyd H. Laughlin, 95, of McDonald, died Saturday, January 26, 2013.

He was born November 14, 1917, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, a son of Daniel W. and Laura Norris Laughlin.

Mr. Laughlin was a 1936 graduate of Holloway High School and in 1981, he retired from Reichhold Chemical Co. in Bridgeville.

He was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church, where he served on the board of session, was a trustee and also was a member of the choir. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts in McDonald.

Mr. Laughlin was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941. He was stationed in Camp Callon, Calif., then transferred to Fort Kamehameha, Hawaii, in September 1941. He was assigned to an anti-aircraft searchlight battalion when Pearl Harbor was attacked December 7, 1941. Later, he was stationed at Baker Island, before returning to Pearl Harbor for the remainder of his tour of duty.

He was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association National Chapter and served as the Pennsylvania chairman for five years. He also was president of PHSA National Color Guard and had the honor of presenting the colors at the PSHA national convention on three different occasions. He also marched in several parades locally and gave presentations at several local schools. He had served as president of the Pittsburgh Keystone Chapter 2 since 1988.

On May 31, 1941, he married Dorothy Thompson, who survives. They were married 71 years.

Also surviving are two sons, Brian (Chantal) Laughlin of Spring Hill, Fla., and Ronald (Sandy) Laughlin of McDonald; two grandchildren, Rochele (James) Reitlinger and Crystal (Randy) Reed; and four great-grandchildren, Elena and Mia Reitlinger and Danica and Brady Reed.

Deceased are a brother, Carl Laughlin; and two sisters, Irma Ritchey and Velma Boyce.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Honor Fight Network, 300 East Auburn Avenue, Springfield, OH 45505.
