Florence Elizabeth Brown

Florence Elizabeth Brown, 87, of Midway went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 31, 2023 at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 29, 1936, in McDonald, a daughter of Alvie and Elizabeth Shotis Jacobs.

Florence was a graduate of Hickory High School.

Florence was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the PTA, Brownie Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and Fort Cherry Boosters Club. She was a devoted member of the Midway Methodist Church, sang in the church choir and served on many committees. Florence was the first President of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department’s Women Auxiliary and cooked the French Fries at the street fairs for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society, Cecil/McDonald Senior Citizens and Silver Sneakers. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, ceramics, reading, attending sports events that her son and granddaughter participated in and loved watching the Steelers.

On September 20, 1958 she married George Ramsel Brown, who died September 23, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters, Flo Ann (Daniel) Thomas of Canonsburg, Judy (Christopher) Trudeau of Bealeton, VA, and a son, George "Cubby" (Heidi) Brown of Midway; six grandchildren, Adam (Joanna) Thomas, Caleb (Courtney) Trudeau, Samuel and Sarah Trudeau, Caroline and George Brown; and one great grandson, Jacob Thomas; two sisters, Mary Ann Campbell of McDonald, Janet Zoladz of Pittsburgh; one brother, David (Patti) Jacobs of McDonald and a sister- in-law Esther Jacobs of Avella.

Deceased are her parents and in-laws, Wilfred and Sarah Brown, four brothers, Alvie Jacobs, Willard (and Judy) Jacobs, Richard Jacobs and Donald Jacobs.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Graff – Nation Funeral and Cremation Service LLC. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald PA 15057; where a service will take place Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12PM. Interment will follow at Mt Prospect Cemetery, Hickory PA.
