Evelyn Joy (Scott) Smith

Evelyn “Joy” Smith, 80, of McDonald, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, in Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born November 1, 1936, in Sturgeon, a daughter of the late Archie D. and Susana (Thompson) Scott.

Mrs. Smith was a graduate of McDonald High School class of 1954. Following her graduation, she worked for several local businesses in McDonald and Oakdale, including Bard’s Dairyland, Eleanor’s Children Shop, G.C. Murphy’s. and Sil’s Deli.

She was a member of the Independent Bible Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the bible study group and the prayer chain . She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

On February 27, 1956, she married George D. Smith, who died February 22, 2013.

Surviving are two sons, George D. (Donna) Smith of Bethel Park and Jeffrey A. (Jen Hans) Smith of McDonald; a sister, Virginia (Owen) McGraw of Slovan; two grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Davis and Baylee Smith; five step-grandchildren Jacey Toward, Joshua Clemens, Joseph (Kara) Clemens, and Austin and Abygale Hall; two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Devin Davis; two step great grandchildren, Samuel Clemens and Keirsten Clemens Lutz.

Deceased are four brothers, Robert, James, Jerry, and Archie Scott; and four sisters, LaVerne Pascoe, Marie Gresh, Glady Snider and Mary Tucker.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at Nation Funeral Home Inc. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, where services will be held on Wednesday, June, 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery McDonald.
