Ellen Louise Chiff, 92, a lifelong resident of McDonald, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Tidwell Hospice of Englewood, FL.
She was born April 14, 1923 in Primrose, a daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Blanch (Nourigate) Gilbert.
Mrs. Chiff was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church and a member of the church’s kitchen committee. She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and sewing. She was an avid 10 pin bowler and was in a variety of women’s bowling leagues that bowled at Sportsman Lanes, Jefferson Lanes and Sygan SNPJ lanes.
On June 14, 1952, she married Donald August Chiff, who died on November 12, 2010.
Surviving are a son, Frank (wife Debora) Hainaut, Jr. of Rotonda West, FL; two brothers, Joseph “Doey” Gilbert of Glendale and Robert “Blackie” (wife Mira) Gilbert of Midway; a granddaughter, Lesa (husband Don) Prevost; and two great granddaughters, Carley Hainaut and Tori Klepsic.
Deceased are three sisters, Hazel Schollaert, Florentine Suplit and Mary “Micki” Hartsic; and four brothers, Lawrence Gilbert, Raymond Gilbert, Donald Gilbert and Fred (widow Juanita of Midway) Gilbert.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 with Rev.
