Edward J. "Stu" Supinski

April 22, 1927 — March 10, 2018

Edward J. “Stu” Supinski, 90, of McDonald, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Genesis Health Care, Bridgeville.

He was born April 22, 1927 in McDonald, a son of Stanley John and Frances (Korzinski) Supinski.

Mr. Supinski was a 1944 graduate of McDonald High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He worked as manager for the former A&P grocery stores in the tristate area for more than 30 years. After the stores closed, he worked for West Allegheny School District, NAPA. in McDonald, and as an oil well pumper for Witko Oil in Oakdale for more than 20 years. He also worked at Nation Funeral Home in McDonald for several years before his retirement.

Mr. Supinski was a member of the McDonald Presbyterian Church where he was a founding member of the Deacons Board and longtime choir member. He was a member of the Sturgeon Volunteer Fire Department and a volunteer for the McDonald Meals on Wheels program.

He was a devoted Pirates fan, a fan of Mountaineer sports and the Steelers. In his youth, he was a waterboy to the Homestead Grays when they played in McDonald.

On April 26, 1948, he married Eva M. Verelst, who died June 13, 2010.

Surviving are four daughters, Linda A. (Ed) Nalesnick of Oakdale, Diane L. (Jay) Nation of McDonald, Alice F. (Wilson) McWreath of Green Tree and Joan M. (Anthony) Caridi of Morgantown; a son, David E. (Darlene) Supinski of Baden; two sisters, Rose Mahalchak of Carnegie and Joan Supinski of Hopkinton, RI; ten grandchildren, Jessica Supinski, Carrie (Dan) Theiss, Jeremy Supinski, Melanie (Cyril) Isaac, Kate (Anthony) Cirocco, Michael (Morgan) Caridi, Christian Nation, Andrew Caridi, Matthew Caridi and Victoria Nation; and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Anciu, Maddy Theiss and Toby Isaac.

Deceased are two sisters, Helen Crews and Blanche McCullough; a brother, Stanley “Sonny” Supinski; and an infant brother, John Supinski.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m  Tuesday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 with Rev. Justin Amsler officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to McDonald Presbyterian Church.
