Dorothy E. (Schoelk) Roths

September 9, 1923 — January 25, 2018

Dorothy Elizabeth Schoelk Roths, 94, of McDonald, as a devout Christian, went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

She was born September 9, 1923 in Cecil Township, the daughter of Paul William and Louise Elizabeth (Hatcher) Schoelk.

Mrs. Roths was a graduate of Cecil High School.

Before retiring, she worked as a night supervisor for the Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind in Bridgeville and as a cashier at the former Five and Dime store in McDonald.

Mrs. Roths was a lifelong member of the McDonald Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, a deacon and as a Stephen Minister. She is the last surviving member of the Golden Link Sunday School class, in which she participated for more than 50 years. She was a member of the former Trowel and Error Garden Club in McDonald, a Girl Scout leader in McDonald, a Judge of Elections in Cecil Township, a 4-H leader in Washington County and a volunteer for the McDonald Meals on Wheels.

On July 11, 1947, she married John H. Roths, who died December 9, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan R. (James) McCrory of Washington and Kathleen E. (Raymond) Morgan of McDonald; a son, Donald W. (Melanie) Roths of Auckland, New Zealand; five grandchildren, Tammara (Mike) Luchovick, David A. (Debbie) McCrory, John Lane Roths, Renee L. Morgan-Church and Michelle M. Morgan; and seven great grandchildren, Kelsey, Matthew, Justin and Aubrey Luchovick, Ryan McCrory, and Chasity and Brennen Church.

Deceased in addition to her husband is a brother, William P. Schoelk.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Center of McDonald Presbyterian Church, 101 Station St., McDonald, followed by services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Justin Amsler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions are suggested to McDonald Presbyterian Church, 119 Station St., McDonald, PA 15057.
