Dorothy E. (Mcdowell) Irwin

Dorothy E. Irwin, 93, of Scott Township, formerly of McDonald, died Sunday, November 9, 2014.

She was born September 12, 1921 in S. Fayette Township, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Murdoch) McDowell.

Mrs. Irwin was a 1939 graduate of McDonald High School and worked as a secretary for Fort Cherry School District for 20 years, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church and a former Sunday School Teacher.

On May 11, 1943 she married George G. “Spike” Irwin, who died April 23, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen L. Irwin of Scott Township and Mary Jo (Ivan) Trabal of Davie, FL; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Trabal.

Deceased are two sisters, Jane Johnston and Isabella McDowell; and two brothers, William and John McDowell.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Friends and family will meet at Calvary Center of McDonald Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 14, for services that will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Justin Amsler officiating.
