Dorothy Harris (Harris) Boardley

March 3, 1942 — October 12, 2012

Dorothy Harris Boardley, 70, formerly of McDonald, died October 12, 2012 at Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1942 in Montifore Hospital, Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (Browarski) Harris.

Ms. Boardley was a 1961 graduate of Fort Cherry High School.

She worked as a waitress in the Pittsburgh area for 30 years, during which time she worked at Pappin’s and Sambo’s restaurants.

Ms. Boardley was a Democratic Committee Woman for the City of Pittsburgh.  She loved to play Bingo, solve crossword puzzles, do crafts and collect knickknacks.  Her favorite thing was time spent with family, grandchildren and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Penny (Joseph) Phelps of Washington and Jennifer Boardley of Mather; a son, Earl Sklar of Chicago, IL;  a sister, Barbara Klemencic of Bridgeville; a brother, Phillip Harris of Penn Hills; four grandchildren, Bridget McCreight, Erik Hoffman, Michael Boardley and Emily Schultz; a great grandson, Maximus Torin Smith; and two nephews and one niece.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 East Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15 with Pastor Rob Berk of Christian Church of North America, Washington, officiating.  Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.  Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.  Online condolences, photos and additional information are available at www.nationfuneralhome.com.
