Dorothy Ann Irwin

Dorothy, Ann Irwin, age 93, of McDonald, died peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 27, 1930 in Sturgeon PA; a daughter of the late Anthony Bicusky and Helen Iglar Waz.

On July 9, 1949, she married, John H. Irwin who survives. They have been married for 74 years. Dorothy and John enjoyed traveling together, to places such as Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, and the Caribbean to name a few.

Dorothy was graduate of South Fayette High School. She was employed by Johnassens, Kaufmanns, and Gimbels department store in Pittsburgh.

She was a member of McDonald Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher at the Trinity Center, and served as the craft teacher for vacation Bible school.

Dorothy was an excellent cook, serving succulent dishes for all occasions especially during the holidays. Her baking skills were unparalleled, most importantly her apple pies. Her children and their spouses would all receive their favorite birthday cake, on their special day, as birthdays were always a particular celebration for her.

Dorothy enjoyed spending countless hours with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as their special “Ma”. She cared so deeply for her loving husband, John and all her family. Dorothy was an outstanding woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed beyond words.

Surviving are her two sons, John J (Susan) Irwin, of Florida, Michael (Candace) Irwin, of Oakdale; a daughter, Susan, (Lou) Prosperi of Pittsburgh; a sister, Irene Webb of Bridgeville; four grandchildren, Courtney, Drahos, Kristin Hotz, Kelsey Vidak, and Lauren Prosperi; seven great grandchildren, Miles, Caroline, Catherine and Macklin Drahos, Charlotte and Ryan Hotz, and Landon Vidak.

Deceased is a brother, Thomas Bicusky and a sister, Virginia “Sally” Kress

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2024 between the hours of 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. at Graff – Nation Funeral and Cremation Services LLC. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA. 15057; where services will take place on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Robinson Run cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to McDonald Meals on Wheels or The Donnell House.
