Donald H. Devos

January 16, 1930 — September 25, 2012

Donald H. DeVos, 82, of McDonald, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his home.

He was born January 16, 1930 in McDonald, a son of the late Henry Peter and Victoria Marie (DuBois) DeVos.

Mr. DeVos was a 1947 graduate of McDonald High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked as General Superintendent of Fossil Generation with Duquesne Light at Oxford Center, where he worked for 40 years before retiring in 1989.

Mr. DeVos was a member of Iron’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, McDonald, a member of Chartier's Lodge #297 F & AM, Canonsburg, and a member of American Legion Post #485, McDonald.

On January 19, 1951, he married Margaret "Peg" Martin, who survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne (John) Faingnaert of McDonald; a son, Michael Donald DeVos of Pittsburgh; a brother, Gerald (Beulah) DeVos of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren Justin (Sasha) DeVos, Jessica Faingnaert, Meaghan and Christina Carr, Elizabeth Faingnaert, Lillian and Valerie DeVos; and one great grandchild, Jillian Sheldon.

Friends will be received Thursday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald from 2 until 8 pm the time of services with Pastor Daniel P. Strussenberg, of Good Shepherd Luthern Church of South Hills, officiating.  Burial and committal services will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28 and conclude in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.  Memorials are suggested to to Iron's Memorial Presbyterian Church, 147 N.
