Clare Joyce Kress

Clare Joyce Kress age 81, of Primrose, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Clare was born on November 12, 1942 in Pittsburgh; a daughter of James Wilson and Clara Emily Dumann McMurray, she lived a life full of grace, love, and devotion to Jesus and her family and friends.

Clare was a graduate of South Hills High School in Mt Washington. She was an Administrative Associate for Bayer Corporation in Robinson Twp. for 21 years, where she retired in 2001. After retirement she worked for Country Meadows in Bridgeville as a caregiver.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness, and warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she met. Clare’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to her community and her church, Abundant Love Church of the Nazarene in Atlasburg. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched many, leaving an indelible mark on all her knew her.

On October 17, 1964, she married William “Bill” Kress. Clare and Bill met in May of 1964 when Bill hit her with a ladder in an attempt to get her attention. They dated for five months and got married.

Clare loved her family, cooking, and serving others, as she had a servant’s heart. She loved Jesus, and although we are saddened, we are also celebrating her becoming a citizen of Heaven. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.

Clare is survived by her loving family, including her devoted husband Bill; a daughter Karen (Davey) McAfee; a son Kevin (Angela) Kress; four grandchildren, Micah (Samantha Lally) Kress, Brianna (Nick) Giammarco, Sierra (Casey) Jones, and Caleb (Ashley) Kress; and countless friends who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Deceased are her cherished son John (Johnny) William Kress; four brothers, Charles, James, Norman and Robert McMurray, and two sisters, Ruth Douglas and Lois Brown.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4-8PM at Graff – Nation Funeral and Cremation Service LLC; where services will take on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00AM.
