Clara H. (Herbst) Mihalics

Clara H. Mihalics, 92, of McDonald, N. Fayette Twp., died Thursday, November 1, 2018.

She was born June 16, 1926, a daughter of Albert and Clara (Berbach) Herbst.

On July 29, 1950, she married Michael Mihalics, who died August 3, 1984.

Mrs. Mihalics was a member of St. Alphonsus R.C. Church. She was a lifelong seamstress, an avid baker and cook. She was a blanketeer for Project Linus where she made over 3,000 quilts and afghans for traumatized children.

Surviving are six children, Marie (Robert) Clark of Bethel Park, Robert (Janet) Mihalics of Wexford, Catherine (James) Hockenberger of Imperial, Margaret “Peggy” (Scott) Weitzel of McDonald, Linda (John) Bakke of Monaca, and Patricia Mihalics of McDonald; four grandchildren, Olivia (Esteban) Saldi, Brian, Angela and Anthony Bakke.

Deceased are three brothers, Walter, Thomas and John Herbst.

Family will receive friends Sunday from 1-6 pm at Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 5, 2018 in St. Alphonsus RC Church McDonald at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.
