Betty June Zirwas, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family in McDonald, Pennsylvania on January 2, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on October 30, 1928, in Cecil, Pennsylvania, Betty was a warm and loving soul whose heart of gold touched everyone she encountered.

From a young age, Betty demonstrated an unwavering commitment to hard work, starting at Walgreens at just 14 years old. Her dedication continued throughout her career, notably during her years at General Electric and Land o Lakes. Eventually, Betty partnered with her husband, Joseph “Jack” Zirwas, to establish Pyramid Supply, a testament to their unwavering bond and shared dreams. Betty continued her career with her son John at Pyramid Supply until her death. Betty’s ability to balance her career with her cherished family life was nothing short of admirable.

Those who knew Betty will forever remember her infectious sense of humor, her giving nature, and her uncanny ability to make others feel special and loved. She took immense joy in building memories with her family, always cherishing time spent watching her great-grandkids grow. Her Thanksgiving gatherings were highlighted by her famous pumpkin pie that was as rich in flavor as the love she infused into every dish. Betty adored playing with her little ones, whether it was building puzzles, looking for sea shells along the beach in Sarasota, Florida, dancing the polka, or simply engaging in heartfelt conversations with her loving friends.

Betty’s family was her pride and joy, with her proudest accomplishment being her beloved son, Johnnny Joe Zirwas. She is survived by her loving son and his partner Renee Gubitti; granddaughters Alexis Zirwas, Abigale McConnell and her cherished son-in-law Brandon, Renika Zirwas, step-granddaughters Alyssa Vantassell and Ciara Gubitti; adopted granddaughters Tina Mazzocco and Meghan Chauvet who she held a special place in her heart; and her great-grandchildren Grace, Austin, Emily and Liam McConnell, and Rosemary Zoog Zirwas. She also leaves behind her dear sisters Joan Totterdale, Jean Ciaffoni, and Barbara Ann Adams, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Betty is now reunited with her parents Barbra and John Adams, her late husband Joseph “Jack” Zirwas, her beloved daughter-in-law Robin Marie Zirwas, her brothers Andrew and John “Bud” Adams, and her sister Marcella Pozzi. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she fondly remembered them throughout her life.

As we reflect on Betty’s extraordinary life, we are reminded of the countless lives she touched with her compassion and warmth. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
