Beatrice Catherine (Seaman) Cerezo

March 3, 1924 — July 12, 2016

Beatrice “Bea” Catherine Cerezo former longtime resident of McDonald, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 12, 2016 with her daughters at her side.

She was born March 3rd, 1924 in Presto, the daughter of the Joseph J. Seaman and Catherine Marie Holzapfel-Seaman.

During World War II she worked for General Electric assisting in the war effort. After the war she met and, two months later, married George E. “Sonny” Cerezo of McDonald on June 1, 1946 and they remained together for the next 62 years until his death in early 2009.

She maintained her household and reared five children, one severely handicapped, and always instilled her children with a strong sense of safety, commitment and love. She was proud of all her children and sorely missed her son whom died as a toddler. She lived a life of both many trials and joys.

Her enjoyments were simple both early and later in life with bingo, a crossword or good book as she was a voracious reader. Whenever possible she enjoyed chatting with good company and frequently attended the senior center in McDonald while it was open. She continued these pleasures as well as an occasional happy hour in her final years in residence at Country Meadows. She had been a member of the McDonald VFW 567 Ladies Auxiliary and a Lioness in the McDonald Lions Club.

Surviving are four children, Linda (Neal) Matchett of Candor, George W. (Janet) Cerezo of McDonald, Suzanne (John) Seitz of Pittsburgh and Raymond (Janet) Cerezo of Selinsgrove; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Deceased in addition to her parents and spouse are a son Gary Alan Cerezo in 1957 and one brother Murvin “Tuby” Seaman in 2004.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Nation Funeral Home, 220 East Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Public Library, 52 4th St., McDonald, PA 15057.
