Arthur C. "Art" Kress

Arthur C. Kress, age 95, of McDonald, passed on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

He was born April 8, 1928 in McDonald; a son of John and Matilda Kress.

Art was a graduate of McDonald High School. He then served in The United States Army. After his time in the service he started to work as a postman in rural McDonald, where he retired after 35 years. He then started working at Highland Springs golf course in Wellsburg WV., as a groundskeeper.

On June 12, 1951 he married, Virginia Catherine “Sally” Bicusky, who passed on April 18, 2007.

Arthur was a member, and Elder of, Irons Memorial Church in McDonald. He loved to golf whenever he had the opportunity. He also enjoyed, having coffee all day, reading the morning paper and doing his daily puzzles. Those closest to him know him for his home baked cookies, especially the orange ones.

Surviving are three children, John P. “Jack” (wife Jackie) Kress of Moon Twp.; two daughters Carrie K. “husband Henry” Cole of Orlando, and Marcy l. (husband Bob) McCurdy of Canonsburg; two sisters, Ruth Furno of Pataskala, OH and Jean Campbell of Oakdale; six grandchildren, Markie, Nicklaus and Christopher Cole, Corey and Kelly McCurdy and, Bryan Kress; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Everett “EJ” Davison.

Deceased are two brothers, John and Bill Kress.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 6-8PM and Monday, June 5, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8Pm at Nation Funeral Home Inc. 220 E. Lincoln Ave. McDonald, PA. 15057. A Service will take place Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11AM in Irons Memorial Church 147 N McDonald St. McDonald, PA 15057. Interment will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Irons Memorial Church.
