Alice Mae (Binder-Dean) Jones

Alice Mae Jones, 87, of Avella, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Wood Haven Care Center of Monroeville.

She was born July 31, 1927 in West Blocton, AL, the daughter of the late Jack and Alma (Binder-Dean) Alexander.

Mrs. Jones was a secretary with General Electric, Pittsburgh and later with Vintage Company, Pittsburgh from where she retired.

She was Past Loyal Lady Ruler of Pittsburgh Assembly No. 6, Order of the Golden

Circles and Past State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler of Pennsylvania State Grand Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle. She was Past Most Ancient Matron of Byrdie E. Crunkleton Memorial Court No. 3, Heroines of Jericho and Past Most Ancient Grand Matron of Most Ancient Grand Court Heroines of Jericho. She was also Past Worthy Matron of Mary Chapter No. 24 and current member of Queen Esther Chapter No. 6, Order of Eastern Star, Deborah Grand Chapter.

On June 4, 1949, she married Robet Lee Jones, who died July 5, 2013.

Surviving are five daughters, Fairee Lucille Johnson of Pittsburgh, Sylvia (Ted) Jones-Leenders, Mary (Wesley) Van Ness and Susan E. Jones, all of Somerset, NJ and Gwendolyn (David) Alexander-Dixon of North Braddock; eleven grandchildren, Lorraine Johnson, Lovell Johnson, Brandon (Angela) Alexander, Ryan Alexander, Ayonna Verse, Allison Leenders, Alexandra Leenders, Emily Van Ness, Destiny Van Ness, David Dixon Jr. and Davon Dixon; and five great grandchildren, Daemon Palmer, Lovell Johnson, Stephen Vandiver, Amaria Alexander and Brandon Alexander Jr.

Deceased are four brothers, Jack, Johnny, Freddy and Tommy Alexander.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald. Friends and family will meet at First Baptist Church, 143 N. McDonald St., McDonald on Saturday, June 6 for funeral services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Melvin B. Braziel, pastor of Solid Rock Church, Pittsburgh, officiating.  Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
